The Birth of Digital Brew – During COVID19

For some, the future is unclear. You see it is 2020, and there is a global pandemic, and for some people and their businesses, families, and personally, this crisis will be affecting everyone.

One of my favourite sayings I heard when interviewing a Director sometime ago was “to predict the future first you must create it”. I know this is a famous saying, but I heard it probably 15 years ago, and it stuck with me ever since.

I call COVID-19 everyone’s Cancer, what do I mean by that well, everyone who has ever overcome Cancer or adversity has slowed down and reflected on life’s blessings the greatest blessing of them all being life.

People allow (FEAR)

F = False
E = Evidence
A = Appearing
R = Real

To take hold of them locked in your head can be a dangerous place, and so can lockdown.

Confinement for some in the same room or environment with people who may not understand your current mindset or position, want to help but are not able too.

A business owner with a new set of problems of which most employees will never know the sacrifices that most business owners are making during this tough time. I agree with our Thursday evening claps and cheers at 8 pm for frontline staff. Still, I would like to raise a glass to all business leaders, managers and owners who are keeping businesses running, the economy moving and jobs for people to come back too.

It is tough but will be worth it in the end if only to give you ultimate clarity and show those that have supported you, and those that have not, for some of you you may choose a new direction or evolve your business and personally.

Talking to people is so important, more importantly, you need to surround yourself with positive people on a similar journey to you or have previous battle scars to share.

Would you rather go into battle with an experienced general, captains and soldiers or with those with no experience? No one knows as much as everyone, and by people coming together, the knowledge shared can be so powerful that if acted upon can conquer mountains and make them molehills.

We are all generals of our businesses, and we can all learn from each other. There is no right or wrong, just different.

People are drawn to negativity easier than positivity. I know which one I prefer, show me your friends, and I will show you your future, but in tough times sometimes it is good to reach out your hand and help someone.

I thought to myself, what can I do to help. We have just had a little boy Rory who is currently seven weeks old and was born two weeks before a global lockdown, and I did not want to put him in any risk but felt obligated to help.

The birth of Digital Brew.

As an owner and founder of a media and technology business, RJDM.com ZOOM calls and Video calls have been a way of life for us to prevent unnecessary meetings and architect time. But now you are forced to use these calls to contact friends and family and time is not the problem. Now it is essential to see someones face and bring a genuine smile to see those who are coping and those who are not.

We all have highs and lows, and life is never easy, you need to push through whatever barriers are in your way to go beyond what is in front of you.

So why create Digital Brew and what is it, well it is a collection of businesses open to everyone to celebrate success and overcome adversity. Sometimes in your darkest hours, you are guided by a light, no it is not a steam train heading towards you it truly is a light at the end of the tunnel and sometimes you need a helping hand to get there. We all do

The world may be healing right now, and so many people have come together, but when the world stops spinning and needs a reboot, strong characters and leaders are required to help people. We all need each other, and that is the birth of Digital Brew a collection of like-minded folk helping one another drawing on each other’s life experiences pushing through.

Having a successful business COVID-19 is another battle scar, funny it has arrived in our 19th year of business, but it is one that will heal in time. Businesses will rebuild more robust than ever. People will reflect and appreciate the simple things more and have greater inner peace. The pain will still be there for most, but it is to remind you that you are alive and remember you are not alone.

It is okay to be scared we are all in this together. Keep strong, keep safe and stay positive, and I wish you all the success in the world, in your business, personally and in life generally.

Feel free to reach out and connect and maybe I will see you in a brew sometime and when the lockdown is finally over you will always be welcome to the Studio.
